So, you’re all probably wondering why we made this. (if you are not, then you can skip this bit).
It all started a long time ago when Freddie Harrison had an idea to make a comic about seals to raise money for charity. He told a few friends, and they wanted to join in. The word spread around school, and the group kept growing until we had our team, and the Sealy Club was formed.
We started work on the comic on random Sundays whenever we were all free at Freddie’s dad’s studio. We are doing this because we are supporting the Yorkshire Seal Group. We are trying to raise money for them to help to protect seals.

Our charity, the Yorkshire Seal Group is a team of passionate volunteers who are committed to helping protect and preserve our native and iconic Grey and Common Seal populations. We take our convictions and turn them into action through research and community engagement. We are an evidence based, grassroots team using citizen science protocols to collect data on coastal visitor demographics, seal populations, movements, breeding success and mitigating both existing and emerging threats.
We work with a variety of stakeholders and marine user groups to advocate responsible seal watching and best practice, promoting wider environmental stewardship through our positive public engagement, schools education workshops and beach cleaning activities.
